BD Loops MEGGER Analog Megohmmeter Loop Tester
The BD Loops MEGGER is an Analog Megohmmeter and Insulation Tester designed to properly test inductive loops for insulation faults and shorts to ground — something a standard multimeter cannot do.
Overview
The BD Loops MEGGER is the correct tool for loop testing. Unlike multimeters, which only check continuity, the MEGGER is an Insulation Tester — capable of detecting a nick in the loop wire's insulation that causes the loop to short to ground. This analog design displays a numeric megohm reading on its pin, allowing installers to track and monitor loop performance over time rather than relying on a simple pass/fail light indicator.
To obtain a megohm reading, connect one lead to the loop and the other lead to ground.
