BD Loops E-Z Detector Checker
A miniature test loop that hooks up in place of the loop to quickly troubleshoot the detector, harness wiring, and circuit board. Powered by the operator — no batteries required. Does not test the loop itself.
The BD Loops E-Z Detector Checker is a miniature test loop that fits in your hand. Instead of testing the loop, it lets you quickly rule out the rest of the loop circuit: simply disconnect the existing loop and hook the E-Z Detector Checker up in its place to test the detector module, harness wiring, and circuit board.
How It Works
Every time you approach a faulty loop system, you have to ask: is it the detector, the harness wiring, the circuit board, or the loop? The philosophy behind the E-Z Detector Checker is to test the easy-to-replace components first. Connect it in place of the loop — if the green light is lit, the connection is receiving power. Reset the detector and press the red button to simulate a vehicle. By quickly eliminating the detector, harness wiring, and circuit board, you can pinpoint whether the loop is the likely culprit before cutting in a new one.
Key Features
- Miniature test loop that hooks up in place of the installed loop
- Tests the detector module, harness wiring, and circuit board loop connections at the press of a button
- No batteries — the unit is powered by the operator
- Encased in a tough PVC shell; clip leads store in the back of the unit
- Reduces the chance of cutting in a new loop when the real issue is the detector circuit or board
Note: Testing the Loop Itself
The E-Z Detector Checker does not test the loop — it tests the loop-system components upstream from the loop. To test a loop for insulation faults or shorts to ground, use a megohmmeter such as the BD Loops BD-Megger.
